FORKLIFT DRIVER – CASTROVILLE, CA

The Forklift Driver is responsible for operating forklifts to move, locate, relocate, and stack products in a wet and cold environment. Ensures that all materials and products are handled and stored following Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and safety protocols.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Operate electrical and propane forklifts to transport products and materials within/outside facility
  • Able to work in wet/cold environment
  • Maintain and perform basic upkeep on forklifts
  • Manage cooling processes in the cooling tunnels
  • Ensure continuous supply of bulk products and materials to production lines
  • Participate in meetings, trainings, and orientations as required
  • Utilize basic math skills to support inventory management and product handling
  • Follow GMPs and safety precautions, including the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Adhere to the First-In, First-Out (FIFO) inventory method
  • Understand and work with thermometers and perishable products
  • Use and maintain communication via radio
  • Perform tasks both indoors and outdoors, in varying weather conditions
  • Lift and move items weighing between 50 lbs without undue physical exertion
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Job Requirements and Qualifications

  • Proven experience operating forklifts for at least 1 year; cooler experience is not required
  • Ability to read and write to follow written instructions and complete documentation
  • Flexibility in schedule to accommodate varying shifts and work demands
  • Punctuality and reliable attendance
  • Basic math skills for inventory
  • Understanding and adherence to safety protocols and emergency preparedness procedures
  • Ability to learn how to change propane tanks and manage inventory
  • Knowledge of handling thermometers and managing perishable products
  • Ability to move items between 50lbs without assistance
  • Adhere to hygiene standards, including the use of hair nets, beard nets, etc
  • Basic computer skills or the ability to learn, including operating a scanner and Thor computer on a forklift
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team, demonstrating collaboration and communication skills
